Forest Schools
In Forest School, we have been observing the changes in the seasons and learning how leaves change colour. We have cooked bread over the fire and toasted marshmallows. We have also played games such as Squirrels and 1,2,3 where are you?
Volcanoes by Amelia Balch
A volcano is a sort of mountain that explodes every now and then. A volcano is formed by magma that pushes up the earth's plates to form a mountain shape. When a volcano erupts everything in the lava's path is in danger. Magma is lava but when it's inside the volcano it's called magma and when it is outside the volcano it is called lava.
Every time a volcano erupts it makes the volcano even bigger than it was before. A volcano is made out of these 7 things: the earth's plates, the vent, the secondary vent, ash cloud, the lava/magma, the magma chamber and the crater. The magma chamber is where all the magma is stored when the volcano isn't erupting. The vent is the main vent but there can be more than one vent that is why there is a secondary vent. There could be more vents than two in a volcano but two is enough for when you're explaining it. When a volcano erupts an ash cloud starts to form.
An ash cloud is made out of smoke, trees, hedges, actually anything that is near a volcano can form an ash cloud. Also when a volcano erupts the magma pushes up so much it blows the top of the volcano off! This causes the top of the volcano to form a hole where the magma shoots out. This hole is called a crater. A volcano is indestructible when it is active.
